Recital and Educational Workshop

A solo double bass recital by Sacramento native Andrew Finley, this concert for all ages explores modern art music from the past 25 years. Drawing on influences from classical, jazz, and rock traditions, the program highlights the evolving role of the double bass as a compelling solo voice in contemporary music.

Past performances of this recital have included discussion between each song about modern bass technique and how those techniques apply to each piece.

An optional add-on is a double bass composition masterclass, intended for composition students who aren’t familiar with writing for the double bass.
